Laura Sawyer is a Chartered Physiotherapist with 20 years experience in injury assessment and rehabilitation. She has qualifications in Sports Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and Pilates and has worked across NHS and Private sites in London and Surrey. She expertly combines hands-on care with bespoke rehabilitation plans to manage a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions in patients of all ages.
Professional background
Laura grew up locally and after qualifying in Sports Rehabilitation from St. Mary’s University, Twickenham, she worked within Professional Rugby for London Welsh RFU for 2 years. She then qualified as a Physiotherapist from St. George’s Hospital, Tooting, where she gained experience working across a range of departments. She is an APPI qualified Pilates teacher and is trained to teach mat and reformer Pilates.
Laura spent 10 years in the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service before spending a further 4 specialising as an advanced practitioner in acute orthopaedic conditions, running the fracture clinic and more recently, the Achilles clinic at St Helier hospital. She has also worked in private practice in South West London, offering hand on treatment and Pilates.

Her Approach To Care
Laura remains a hands-on physiotherapist and takes a collaborative approach when working with patients. She is passionate about really getting to know her patients and their motivations so she can tailor her treatment and plan of care to give everyone the best chance of a quick and lasting recovery.
With her extensive experience across both private practice and NHS settings she is well placed to combine hands-on treatments with tailored rehabilitative exercises. Her Pilates qualification allows her to take this one step further, helping patients move out of the pain stage; supporting them beyond this, to rebuild strength, regain confidence in movement and stay active and pain free in the long term.
CLINICAL FOCUS
Laura works with patients of all ages from early teens through to the older population. She is particularly well placed to treat:
Achilles ruptures and injuries Overuse injuries Post fracture or acute injury conditions Chronic injury management Sports Injuries
She also works with patients who are preparing for, or recovering from surgery, working on reducing pain, increasing mobility and building strength and resilience to improve long term surgical outcomes.

Physiotherapy BSc, St George’s, University of London Sports Rehabilitation BSc, St Mary’s Twickenham
Extra Box - Clinical Pilates
Laura’s Pilates background enables her to thoughtfully integrate its principles into a patient’s care plan, always tailored to their individual condition, goals, and mobility. From introducing a single targeted exercise early on in a patient’s recovery, to delivering a fully coached 1:1 session, she provides a clinical, personalised approach to exercise prescription.
This focus on improving strength, control, and movement quality while supporting recovery, helps to reduce the risk of injury, and builds long-term resilience and confidence in movement.
Personal Interests
Laura lives locally and outside of work is kept busy with her 2 children and numerous home renovation projects. She enjoys keeping fit and active with regular strength training and Pilates (of course!). She’s also quite partial to some knitting or crafting when she gets a chance and enjoys interior design and home renovation projects.
